Purpose of the Drill Team: Provides a means, through drill training and drill competitions, of enhancing the morale of the corps of cadets, developing the spirit of cohesion, and presenting traditional, interesting and well executed military drill routines, ceremonies/events and Color Guard routines. To provide for the development of participating cadets in the practice of team work and commanding cadets. To aid in disciplinary training by instilling habits of precision and response to the leaders orders. Objectives of Drill – When individuals react to commands rather than thought, the result is more than just a good-looking ceremony, parade or event, its discipline. Drill has been and will continue to be the backbone of military discipline. In addition to discipline, military drill teaches and develops self-confidence, personal pride, teamwork, attention to detail and unit pride. It takes concentration and diligence to master squad/platoon drill techniques, but when properly executed drill reflects the professionalism of the drill team.
Definition of Drill – The execution of certain movements by which individuals or units are moved in a uniform manner from one formation to another, or from one place to another; movements are executed in unison and with precision.
